Ultraviolet (UV) radiation is an invisible threat that sucks the life out of your furniture, artwork and other valuables. The sun is its greatest source, but artificial lighting also produces UV rays on a smaller scale. While there’s no escaping this type of radiation, you can significantly reduce it with the right window glass.
At Renewal by Andersen® of St. Louis, our energy-efficient windows are available in three glass options. While they differ in ratings, they nevertheless provide exceptional benefits not just for UV protection, but also for heating, cooling and daylighting.
Here’s the lowdown on our glass solutions:
High-Performance™ Low-E4® Glass
Our standard variant blocks 84% of UV rays from the sun. At the same time, it reflects 58% of solar heat passing through it, lets 72% of sunshine in and has a U-factor of 0.25. To put things into perspective, our basic glass package is 56% and 47% more efficient in summer and winter, respectively, compared to ordinary dual-pane glass.
High-Performance Low-E4 SmartSun™ Glass
Our most efficient option for windows installation, our SmartSun glass deflects 95% of UV rays and denies entry to 72% of solar heat. With its ability to still admit 72% of natural light despite its powerful glazing, it won’t tarnish the view. Its reflective coatings virtually have no effect on the color and clarity of the light that will enter your home.
High-Performance Low-E4 Sun Glass
Perfect for areas with hot summers, our Sun glass has the highest rating against solar heat gain in our selection. It blocks 74% of the sun’s heat-causing infrared rays, reflects 84% of UV radiation and allows in 40% of sunlight.
The high-performance glass of our double hung, bay, bow, sliding, picture, specialty and casement windows has an excellent combination of features. Each of its parts is thoughtfully designed and adds great value to the whole.
