As an expert in windows installation, we make sure our products are incredibly energy-efficient. The Renewal by Andersen® of St. Louis High-Performance™ Low-E4® glass features some of the best advancements in energy efficiency. It has a unique glass coating, double glazing, dual seal and more. Learn more about how our windows improve your home’s energy efficiency here:
Spectrally Selective Low-E Coating
On the inside and outside surfaces of our windows’ exterior glass, there are multiple spectrally selective low-emissivity (Low-E) coatings. Compared with typical double-pane windows, windows that have several Low-E coating layers reflect more solar heat and ultraviolet (UV) rays while maximizing the amount of visible light. In addition, during colder months, this special coating bounces indoor heat back inside to prevent unwanted heat loss.
Double Glazing
Our energy-efficient windows feature two panes of glass with some space in between. Our parent company, the Andersen® Corporation, has optimized the width of this air space to minimize thermal transfer. Research shows that a lack of space diminishes the double glazing benefit while too much space can increase heat loss.
Dual Seal
We use a dual seal system to keep the panes of our replacement windows secure. Our specially formulated silicone seal provides structural support while our compressed butyl seal acts as a gas barrier. The secret to our dual seals’ performance is our precise sealing process. We remove the Low-E coating around the embedded glass edge to provide our sealants a clean surface to stick to, making the seals strong.
Argon Gas Blend
Argon is one of the best insulating gases because unlike carbon dioxide and Freon, argon is not sensitive to seal failure and doesn’t discolor. To better improve window performance, we developed our own argon gas blend that helps improve our windows’ insulation capabilities. This gas blend also helps with soundproofing.
Stainless Steel Spacer
The spacer keeps the two panes stable, acts as a moisture barrier and preserves a gas-tight seal on our windows. Typical spacer materials, such as aluminum and plastic, conduct more energy and will deteriorate over time. We use stainless steel for our spacers because it is more stable and resists seal breakage. Since it is stronger than other spacer materials, we’re also able to use a thinner spacer wall that leads to better energy efficiency.
These features elevate our casement windows and other window types above the competition. Our energy-efficient glass packages can improve your home’s overall efficiency and help make your interior feel more comfortable. We serve many areas in Missouri, including St Charles.
